Public Policy ist ein Begriff der Politikwissenschaft und bezeichnet die Summe der inhaltlichen Entscheidungen, Zielsetzungen und Aktivitäten der am Politikprozess Beteiligten.
Es ist zudem ein interdisziplinäres staatswissenschaftliches Fach mit praktischem Schwerpunkt, das Fragestellungen im Spannungsfeld von Politik, Wirtschaft und Gesellschaft behandelt.

Bearbeiten Ausbildungsinhalte
Die Public Policy-Ausbildung an Universitäten richtet sich in der Regel an künftige Führungskräfte im öffentlichen Sektor. Dementsprechend weist der Lehrplan im Unterschied zu klassischen Studiengängen der Grundlagenfächer eine deutlich höhere Praxisorientierung auf. So besteht die Ausbildung in der Regel aus drei zentralen Bereichen:

Ökonomische Analysen und Modelle
Führungs- und Managementkompetenzen, zum Beispiel:
